地理環境影響著各地方的發展是所謂大歷史 (Marco History) 主要的論述。中國近代歷史是由東方農業文化和西方商業文化之間的衝突所構成。現代則有西方文化和伊斯蘭文化的衝突。
文化之間的衝突總是殘酷的。
